AcceleratorYYC Joins Canadian Digital Media Network to Contribute to Digital Media Innovation

Calgary, Alberta – January 30, 2014 – AcceleratorYYC, an entrepreneurial community hub that kick starts and activates local startups, announced today that it has joined the Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) a cross-Canada network of digital media innovation hubs collaborating to advance digital innovation nationally.

Through membership in this unique national network, AcceleratorYYC will gain domestic and international market exposure for its entrepreneur members and community. AcceleratorYYC will also benefit from having access to proven regional programming and best practices of other network members. Joining Canada’s largest members-only online collaboration of commercialization resources immediately expands the hub’s client support capability, while enabling national access to AcceleratorYYC regional resources.

The CDMN is Canada’s digital media collaboration network connecting innovation hubs across the country. We’re delighted to bring on board another organization dedicated to furthering Canada’s competitiveness in the global digital economy, and to advancing commercialization of digital media innovations.
— Kevin Tuer, CDMN Managing Director

AcceleratorYYC, a nonprofit organization, is a pillar of Calgary’s ecosystem with hundreds of thought leaders and hungry entrepreneurs who engage, innovate and accelerate big ideas. AcceleratorYYC is a home for hackers, creative and entrepreneurs. They offer a unique coworking space with everything an entrepreneur would need but their main focus is on building a collaborative community and supporting it through facilitating meaningful events and programs.

We are excited to be partnering with CDMN as it aligns with our vision to entrench Calgary (in turn Alberta, and Canada) as a global force in entrepreneurship and innovation for tech, energy and social enterprise.
— Hannah Cree, Director of AcceleratorYYC

Effective today, AcceleratorYYC will be a channel for driving participation in national initiatives that support the commercialization of innovation. Applications for the CDMN Soft-Landing Program, an initiative for mature startups and small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who can benefit from a getting a toe-hold outside Canada to expand their businesses, will be accepted again later in 2014. Companies can apply for up to $4000CDN worth of funding to cover travel and accommodation expenses associated with an up to three month stay at a business accelerator in an economy of interest.
